The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) kicked off its month-long celebration of its 55-year service by recognizing 34 graduating University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) students and their respective scholarship donors on June 11, 2015 at the Makiling Hall, Student Union Building, UPLB.

With the theme "Isang Parangal… Isang Pasasalamat," students and donors donors each received certificates and plaques of appreciation from Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez Jr., Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Portia G. Lapitan, and OSA Director Nina M. Cadiz. Several college deans and secretaries were also in attendance.

Scholar Christian Jerome Pisuena shares his experiences and struggles as a student during the scholars and donor partners' recognition day.

Christian Jerome Pisuena, one of the scholars from the College of Agriculture, narrated his experiences and struggles as a student. He emphasized that when problems arise, it is when one should "get motivated instead of being intimidated." He also shared that the persons who believed in him helped him get through those challenges.

Philchema Inc. representative Ms. Deborah Ramirez also narrated that their scholarship service reflects the importance of malasakit, one of the organization's values. Assisting the students with their financial needs is their way of giving back to the community. She also challenged the gradutes to do the same by "paying it forward" so they, in turn, could "make a difference in someone else's life."

Graduating and non-graduating scholars showcased not only their academic excellence but also their talents in other fields. They expressed their sincerest gratitude to the guests and donors during the event through community singing.
